The Advent of Modern Technologies

The advent of modern technologies has undoubtedly brought so much convenience to people’s lives. It has supported large industries in so many ways that production has grown large enough to meet human needs for agricultural and industrial products. But one drawback caused by technological advancements is overshadowed by these comforts, namely the depletion of natural resources. Awareness was raised as to this condition which led to a revolution in the use of natural resources were made and brought about improved energy technologies.

What are the two energy sources renewable energy? Basically, energy resources are renewable or non-renewable. An energy source is only considered a renewable resource if it is replaced by natural processes and replenished over time, while renewable energies are resources whose yields are sustainable. Unfortunately, the main sources of energy used to run the technology are not renewable, which means they can be depleted. They include gasoline, coal, natural gas, diesel and other products derived from fossil fuels that are not renewable. Depletion of the non-renewable energy source will be inevitable because it is not replenished. As a result, attention is gradually shifting to the use of renewable energy technologies.

Sustainable energy which is often viewed as a renewable resource is the provision of energy that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. They include plant matter, solar energy, wind energy, wave energy, geothermal energy and tidal energy. It usually also includes technologies that improve energy efficiency, otherwise known as renewable energy technologies.

Solar energy is a form of renewable energy that supports technologies. Solar energy is energy derived directly from the Sun. It is the most abundant source of energy on Earth and the fastest growing type of alternative energy. Renewable energy technologies through solar energy use the photovoltaic cell. It converts sunlight directly into electricity. The Sun annually provides more than 10,000 times the energy that humans consume today.

Wind power is another renewable source. It derives from an uneven heating of the Earth’s surface by the Sun and the hot core. Renewable energy technologies supported by wind power are generated by the electricity collected through the conversion of the rotation of the turbine blades into electric current by means of an electric generator.

Hydropower is a very common resource used for renewable energy technologies. Energy comes from the movement of water in rivers and oceans, which can be used to generate electricity using turbines, or can be used mechanically to do useful work. Another renewable source is geothermal energy which is produced by directly harnessing the natural heat flow from the ground.
